Celebrations are underway at The Valley Leadership Academy after pupils received their GCSE and BTec results.

School staff and parents have today been celebrating with pupils at the school as they progress onto the next stage of their education or training.

High achieving pupil, Elizabeth Green, was overjoyed to receive her results today. Elizabeth achieved eight GCSEs, including four grade 9s, two grade 8s, and one grade 7, in addition to a Level 2 Distinction* in Sport. Speaking about her success, Elizabeth said:

“It is such a wonderful feeling to finally have these results and be able to go on to the next stage of my life. I just want to say thank you to everyone who helped me get here. I hope to inspire in the same way I have been inspired, by becoming an English teacher in the future.”

There were double celebrations for the Green family as Elizabeth’s twin brother Jack also achieved exceptional results. Collectively, the talented siblings achieved 16 GCSEs, including the top grades 9 to 7 in English, Maths, Science, History and MFL subjects. They have not only supported one another through their GCSEs but have mentored their fellow pupils and led revision sessions in English and Maths. Both Elizabeth and Jack aspire to study at university to pursue their passions of teaching and engineering. Jack said:

“Having each other throughout this experience has been a hugely positive experience. We may both have different passions that we will drive towards but, undoubtedly, we will be continuing to support one another through it.”

Another high achieving pupil, Junior King, was delighted to achieve eight GCSEs at grades 9-7 including English, Maths, Science, Religious Studies, and Creative iMedia. Speaking about his success, Junior said: “I am indebted to the teachers at The Valley Leadership Academy who have supported me in this first step towards becoming a medical researcher into infectious diseases. I’ve had a great time here and will really miss my school family.”

Colette Roberts, Executive Principal at The Valley Leadership Academy, said:

“Congratulations to all of those receiving results today. It is so pleasing to see our pupils do well and secure the grades they need to progress to their chosen next step. They have worked really hard and can be very proud of their achievements. I wish them all the best of luck for their futures.”

Despite the disruption to learning over the past few years, exams were marked and graded in the normal way this summer, as they would have been before the pandemic. This means that the lenient marking and grading from last summer has been removed and exam results nationally have fallen to pre-pandemic levels.
