Virtual Valley
The Virtual Valley is a fully-funded tutoring programme that will enable your child to access high-quality tutor sessions on a 1:1,1:2 or 1:3 basis.
The Role of The Virtual Valley
The aim of The Virtual Valley is to provide high-quality, tailored, virtual tutoring to students in years 7-10, enabling gaps in learning to be closed, ensuring students are supported to reach their full potential. In the first instance tutoring will be available in English, Mathematics and Science.
The structure of tutoring
- Tutoring will take place on 45-minute sessions
- Tutoring will be virtual through The Valley Leadership Academy Teams account.
- Each lesson will be tailored to the specific needs of the students in the session.
- The progress of students each session will be tracked using a RAG system and supported by min-assessments in Microsoft Forms
ICT
Tutoring is most effective where a student has a quiet dedicated space and access to a laptop or desktop computer. Whilst Teams runs on any mobile device, in most situations this does not offer the same experience. The academy has a bank of laptops that can be loaned upon parental request.
Requesting a tutor
- To request a tutor please click here and complete the electronic request form.
- The tutoring has been designed to allow flexibility in selecting date and times that fit in with commitments and family structures. Whilst we cannot guarantee these slots, we will try to meet requests where possible.
- Only one slot for each subject is allowed to be requested.
- Whilst tutoring can be requested at any time. The initial 5-week programme begins the week beginning the 16th May.

Next steps
Where students have been successful in applications for tutoring:
- A ‘next steps’ letter and ‘Tutoring charter’ will be sent to parents.
- A virtual welcome meeting will be held for parents
- Any unsuccessful application will see students added to a waiting list
